The International Film Foundation was created in 1945 as a non-profit organization to produce and distribute documentary films that would promote better world understanding. Julien Bryan was named Executive Director. Until his death in 1974, his aims were to make quality films, and to influence and persuade teachers to use them creatively. Sam Bryan, IFF's current Executive Director, has, since 1960, traveled extensively and made films in more than 40 countries. Many of the films are now available in various formats.
